Painting a Ceramic Model

Hello Everyone! I am currently painting a ceramic model for Christmas. It is a fireplace with stockings! If you don't know what a ceramic model is, it is basically what you would paint at Color Me Mine.

Steps On Painting One

1. Clear out any dust
2. Get paint- you need to use either latex, acrylic, or epoxy paint. (I used acrylic), brushes, a napkin or something to dry your brush, and water. Optional item: a painting palette or a plate to take out the paints.
3. Set the colors you are going to use
4. Gently paint the background or base before decorations. You will need to keep clean brush strokes. In order for the color to stand out, you will need to do multiple layers, so it shines.
5. Once you're done with the base, let your model dry. Then, paint the other things on it.
6. Let your model dry. It might take 30 min. - 1 hr. , depending on your model. Pack up your area in the meantime!

Enjoy! My model will come probably on Sat. or so! (It will appear in another blog post!) Stay tuned!!

  1. Just a note: not everybody knows what Color Me Mine is. A ceramic model is basically something you would make out of clay.
